Barack Obama, new president, ready to remake America
More than one million people heard Barack Hussein Obama’s historic address shortly after he placed his left hand on Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural Bible to take the oath of office and become the first black president of the United States on January 20th 2009.
“We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun, and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. And all this we will do.”
The historic speech, by the new president was clearly marking a line with the precedent administration. Globally, the address was a call to restore responsibility of the administration and of the ordinary citizens of the United States.
